A couple of weeks ago, we released an episode on measuring iOS post-ATT performance using spreadsheet-based MMM.

Since we’ve received a lot of interest around the topic, we decided to release a “how-to” series to assess iOS performance by implementing Facebook’s open source code, Robyn. If you got started with a basic spreadsheet based model, this is a great next step to refining the media mix model through a more sophisticated code-based system.

Today’s episode is part 1 in the series – Introducing Robyn & setting up the environment.

We have a Youtube video linked in the show notes that will take you through the entire process of setting up Robyn in just a few minutes.

Mobile Growth Lab
We launched the Mobile Growth Lab this week – over 60 marketers, executives, product managers and developers signed up to break the shackles of ATT’s performance and measurement losses. Our first session kicked off on Tuesday – and while the premium and executive editions are closed for registrations, you can get access to the recorded versions of these sessions through our self-serve plan.

FULL TRANSCRIPT BELOW

A couple of weeks ago, we released an episode on measuring iOS post-ATT performance using spreadsheet-based MMM. Since we’ve received a lot of interest around the topic, we decided to release a “how-to” series to assess iOS performance by implementing Facebook’s open source code, Robyn.

Robyn is an experimental, semi-automated, and open-sourced Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) package from Facebook. It aims to reduce human bias by means of ridge regression and evolutionary algorithms and enables actionable decision making in allocating marketing spend.

Today’s episode is part 1 in a three part series that we’re releasing around Robyn. This episode is about introducing Robyn & setting up the environment – and is accompanied by a video walkthrough that shows you exactly what to do to run Robyn yourself.

Before you can run Robyn though, you have to set up the environment – and honestly, this was a very challenging and tricky process for everyone on our team. We had to take quite a bit of help to set up the environment – so we put together this episode and the accompanying video to make sure you don’t have to go through the same painful process.

In this video, Senior Mobile Marketing Manager at Rocketship HQ, Virendra will take you through installing and optimizing the code for your system on our Youtube video which is linked in the show notes.

We go through a couple of key steps, which you can follow along via screenshare – and do it for yourself. You first set up R and R studio. You install the package ‘remotes’ and call the library Robyn. You then install the Python library Nevergrad via PIP or Conda.

You dont need any programming or development background to be able to execute any of these – just follow along the screenshare, and implement this for yourself – and you should be set.

You can go to 4.15 to skip the intro and get started right away.

We’ll come back with part 2 of this series soon where we’ll show you how to run a code on Facebook’s Robyn.

We’ve been learning quite a bit through this new model and we’d love to hear about your experiences with Robyn as well. Leave a comment on the Youtube video or send us an email at hi@rocketshiphq.com
